Varieties of Spanish from Latin America and Spain Las variedades del español en Latinoamérica y España
In this section I have tried to present a short selection of variedades del español from Latin America and Spain. We can classify the varieties in groups but there is not much consensus between the specialists regarding classification. For this reason I would rather not offer you any one as the "correct" one. I will post some links as bibliography related with those classifications. In the meantime, I hope you can appreciate the differences and beauty of some of these varieties through those videos.
Two dialectal areas are considered in the Peninsular Spanish: the Northern Varieties and the Southern Varieties That is why we talk about "Andaluz" or "Canario" but, again, there is a lot of controversy between the specialists in Dialectology.
Here you have a few examples. Probably you can also notice a different intonation and prosody by listening someone talking from the Basque Country, Cataluña, Galicia or Madrid. Enjoy the richness of such a variety!
